THE KIZIMKAZI Festival committee has said that for the year 2025, the festival is expected to be held from July 19 to 26 at the Suluhu Sport Academy Kizimkazi stadium accompanied by various entertainment and development activities.
The Chairman of the Festival Committee, Mahfoudh Said Omar, made the announcement to journalists from various media outlets at the Kwanza Kizimkazi hotel, South Unguja District.
He said that during the eight 8 days of the festival, various events will be held with the aim of promoting the Southern region as a tourist attraction through its blessed attractions including marine resources, culture and art.
He noted that the festival will continue to be a catalyst for social and cultural development, by encouraging the participation of youth, art groups in parallel with promoting the unique attractions that exist in Southern Tanzania.
Mahfoudh explained that among the events that will take place during the 8 days of the festival is a prayer for peace and stability for the nation by the leaders of the country.
“This year, the Kizimkazi Festival will be one of its kind with the aim of promoting tourism available in the Southern region as it is blessed with many attractions and better than many other places, we ask citizens from various regions to participate and see for themselves” he said.
He informed that the festival will highlight in detail the wealth of marine resources, the unique culture of the Southern residents and various arts that identify the identity of the region.
"Our goal is to showcase the beauty of the South and attract local and international tourists to visit these areas that are rich in natural and cultural attractions," he said.
Speaking about the achievements that will be achieved by the citizens of Zanzibar, he said it is the presence of various commercial opportunities, especially for entrepreneurs, fishermen and pastoralists to sell their products and even increase the economy of one person and the nation as a whole.
"Citizens will be able to sell their various products, including fishermen, pastoralists, farmers and entrepreneurs, this is a great economic opportunity that will enable them to increase their income and contribute to the national income through the tourism sector," he said.
Chairman Mahfoud noted that the festival will be officially opened by the President of Zanzibar and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council, Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi, on July 19 this year.
Secretary of the Festival Hamid Abdul-hamid Khamis, said the festival will begin with special training for seven sectors including fishermen, livestock farmers, tourism and entrepreneurs, which will begin on July 12 and will be closed by the President of the United Republic of Tanzania Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan on July 20.
He also said that on July 16 there will be a prayer for the country's top leaders Dr. Samia and Dr. Mwinyi which will be held at the Mnazimmoja grounds and another prayer for the heads of state and elders who have preceded them in the court which will be held on July 18 at the Kizimkazi Dimbani mosque.
However, he said that on the same day there will be a conference on natural energy which will be held at the Kwanza Kizimkazi hotel which will provide an opportunity on the proper use of cooking energy.
The secretary said other events are health screening, a Quran memorization competition to be held at Hasnuu Makame Secondary School and the opening of a children's playground to be held on July 24 in the Kibuteni area and later visiting the trade fair pavilions at the Suluhu Sports Academy grounds.
However, he said on July 25, the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. Samia Sulubu Hassan, will open Makunduchi Secondary School and later launch the Johari Hotel.
In parallel with these events, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan is expected to be the official guest at the summit of the festival on July 26, who is also a world champion in clean energy.
One of the founders of the Festival, Said Hamad Ramadhan, said the festival is beneficial and a major catalyst for development in the district, Zanzibar and Tanzania in general.
The festival is expected to involve various tourism stakeholders, artists, sportspeople and cultural groups, serving as a platform to promote tourism and boost the economies of the region's communities through the entertainment and sustainable tourism sector, in line with the 2025 slogan "Kizimkazi Kumenoga".
