Jopo la majaji waliobobea katika tasnia ya habari limeanza rasmi kuchambua kazi za waandishi wa habari wanaowania Tuzo za Uwiano wa kijinsia kwa Vyombo vya Habari kwa mwaka 2025. Mbali ya kupitia kazi za waandishi, Majaji pia wameanza ukaguzi maalum wa vyombo vya habari kuangalia namna vinavyopaza sauti za wanawake na kukuza uandishi wa habari wenye kuzingatia uwiano wa kijinsia. Tunatoa wito kwa vyombo vyote vya habari kujiandaa kuwapokea majaji, na kuwapa mashirikiano katika kuhakikisha mchakato huu unaotekelezwa kwa ufanisi na uadilifu mkubwa.

Kwa mwaka huu 2025 jumla ya kazi 120 za kihabari zimepokelewa kutoka vyombo mbalimbali vya Habari ikiwemo magazeti, redio, televisheni na mitandao ya kijamii Unguja na Pemba. Tofauti na miaka iliyopita, mwaka huu tunzo zimeshirikisha pia vyombo vya Habari vyenyewe ili kuongeza ufanisi wa vyombo vya habari katika masuala ya takwimu na wanawake na uongozi. Mwelekeo huu mpya unalenga kutambua si tu ubora wa uandishi, bali pia juhudi za ndani zinazofanywa na vyombo vya habari katika kuendeleza usawa wa kijinsia kupitia sera zao, ratiba za vipindi, na mwelekeo wa kiuhariri. 

Vigezo vinavyotumika katika tathmini kwa waandishi wa habari ni pamoja na: 

• Ubunifu wa mada na upekee wa uwasilishaji 

• Matumizi ya takwimu sahihi na vyanzo mbalimbali vya habari

 • Mtazamo wa kijinsia na kuzingatia makundi ya pembezoni 

• Athari za kazi iliyochapishwa au kurushwa hewani katika jamii 

• Maadili ya kitaaluma na ustadi wa lugha. 

Vigezo vinavyotumika kwa vyombo vya Habari ni pamoja na:

 • Uwepo na utekelezaji wa sera na madawati ya jinsia.

 • Utekelezaji wa ufuatiliaji na tathmini wa masuala ya usawa wa kijinsia. 

• Nafasi za wanawake katika ngazi za maamuzi ndani ya vyombo husika. 

• Usalama na Ulinzi wa wanahabari.

Tunawahimiza waandishi na vyombo vya habari kuendelea kutumia kalamu zao kama nyenzo ya kuleta mabadiliko. Ni kupitia habari zenye msingi wa takwimu, tafiti, na ushahidi wa kijinsia ndipo tunaweza kuleta usawa wa kweli wa kijinsia katika uongozi. Tuzo hizi ni sehemu ya utekelezaji wa program ya kuwawezesha wanawake katika uongozi (SWIL), mradi unaotekelezwa kwa ushirikiano kati ya TAMWA ZNZ, ZAFELA, PEGAO na JUWAUZA kwa mashirikiano na Ubalozi wa Norway nchini Tanzania. 

Lengo ni kuongeza ushiriki wa wanawake katika nafasi za uongozi na kuimarisha demokrasia jumuishi na shirikishi. Imetolewa na:

REVIEWING JOURNALISTS’ WORK AND ASSESSING MEDIA OUTLETS FOR THE 2025 MEDIA FOR GENDER EQUITY AWARDS A panel of seasoned judges in the media field has officially begun reviewing entries submitted by journalists vying for the 2025 Media for Gender Equity Awards. In addition to evaluating individual submissions, the judges have also commenced special assessments of media outlets to examine how they amplify women’s voices and promote gender-sensitive journalism. 

We call upon all media houses to prepare for and cooperate with the visiting panel, ensuring the process is conducted with efficiency, professionalism, and integrity. For the year 2025, a total of 120 journalistic entries have been received from various media platforms, including newspapers, radio, television, and social media, from both Unguja and Pemba. Unlike in previous years, this year’s awards have expanded to include media institutions themselves, with the aim of enhancing the overall role of media in promoting the use of data in stories related to women and leadership. This new direction is intended to recognize not only the quality of journalism but also the internal institutional efforts made by media houses to advance gender equity through their policies, program schedules, and editorial strategies. 

Evaluation criteria for journalists’ entries include:

• Creativity of the topic and uniqueness of presentation 

• Use of accurate data and multiple sources

• Gender lens and inclusion of marginalized groups 

• Social impact of the published or broadcasted work 

• Professional ethics and language proficiency 

Evaluation criteria for media outlets include: 

• Existence and implementation of gender policies and gender desks

• Monitoring and evaluation of gender-related content and commitments 

• Representation of women in decision-making roles within the institution

 • Safety and protection of journalists We encourage both journalists and media outlets to continue using their platforms as tools for social transformation. It is through data-driven, research-based, and gender focused reporting that we can achieve true gender equality in leadership.

These awards are part of the Strengthen Women in Leadership (SWIL) program, jointly implemented by TAMWA ZNZ, ZAFELA, PEGAO, and JUWAUZA in collaboration with the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Tanzania.
